A new president for France and shed loads of strikes?

With the election of Sarkozy is France going in a new direction?  I was very surprised to see that Lot et Garonne had a majority in favour of Sarkozy.  Last time round the vote went in favour of Le Pen.  Is this a surprise or does it indicate that the anti immigratrion stance of Sarkozy is more important to the locals than the risk of change in other areas of life.  If I could say one thing with a bit of confidence about the attitude of local people (as I have come to understand it) it would seem that generaly speaking change is not welcome.

Perhaps the answer lies in the confidence of those who know that a good round of strikes will see off the problem!  It will soon become clear I think.
